About The Association...

Introduction

Administrators of several private hospitals convened and decided to form an association of private hospitals nationwide on March 13, 1979 in Antipolo, Rizal that will properly address the problems of the industry. Thus, the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PHAP) was born.

Who are those qualified to be a member of PHAP?

Any privately owned clinics, private hospitals or other health facilities engaged in any aspect of the delivery of services either facilitating and providing healthcare services in accordance with the healthcare principles and shall comply the requirements of membership of the association.  (refers to Membership Form).

PHAP operates on a national scope and has a growing membership of over 600 members throughout the country.  Out of the 1,071 licensed private hospitals at the Department of Health, 50% are recognized members of the association who actively participate and support all the PHAP activities since its inception.

The association conducts regional seminars and symposia in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao periodically.  PHAP has been undertaking continuing professional education program and has conducted over 6 programs per year since its foundation in 1979 and with a combined attendance of over 400 participants per seminar for the past 31 years and these numbers will still be growing in the next centuries.

PHAP is cooperating with different government agencies such as the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth), Department of Health (DOH) and the House of Representatives in facing various pending laws that will affect the private hospitals systems and administration. The association also organizes ICD-10 Coding of Diseases in cooperating with the PhilHealth since year 2008 to present (2011).

PHAP being an organization, which is dedicated to the management and concerns of private hospitals in the Philippines, is the appropriate organization to represent the concerns of the private hospitals nationwide.

Partnership for Asian Hospital Management Conference

PHAP is the only hospital association in the Philippines who is a recognized and a Conference Partner of the Hospital Management Asia.  Through the effort of the organization, the Philippine Private Hospitals’ delegation is always the top delegation next to the host (Asian) country for the past 8 years now.

Yearly Activities

PHAP holds 3 Regional Seminar in a year, Mindanao (1st quarter), Visayas (2nd quarter) and Luzon (3rd quarter) and a National Convention every November, every August or September for the Hospital Management Asia.

Recognition and Awards

The organization gives awards to members who are:

  1. Recognition for the 5 years attendance of the Regional Seminars (Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao).  Candidates should represent his/her region.
  2. Hospital Anniversary Celebration (25th/50th/75th/100th year celebration)
  3. 5 Consecutive years of attendance of the PHAP National Convention
  4. 3 Consecutive years of attendance of the Hospital Management Asia Conference.
  5. Biggest or highest delegation during the regional seminars.
  6. And other special awards
